Lord's Supper
Disciple's Guide to the Eucharist or Communion
A 117-page book by Dr. Ralph F. Wilson
|
The Lord's Supper will renew you as you probe its mysteries in Scripture.
Sometimes the Lord's Supper can seem boring, repetitious, or practically meaningless, providing a mere sentimental anchor to your faith. But communion or Eucharist or the Mass is more than a formal ritual. It is deeply significant.
This book provides meditations on ten of the rich themes that underlie the Lord's Supper. Don't expect a series of dogmatic propositions, but rather instruction in what the Scriptures themselves teach. While the author shares his own interpretations, he considers alternative understandings with respect.
The goal of the book is to so illuminate the rich themes of communion, that the next time - or next 100 times - you serve or partake of the Lord's Supper, you'll recall with joy and love what it really means.
Lord's Supper: Meditations for Disciples provides a spiritual adventure, not unlike scuba diving. Communion, as you are aware, is not a fixed doctrine, but a wonderful and holy mystery into which we immerse ourselves, as we explore and probe its depths.

Whether you're a pastor or priest, a deacon or member of a religious order, an elder, teacher, or lay leader, you'll find the makings of many sermons and communion meditations here. But hopefully, this book will help you first feed your own soul on the Heavenly Bread and find spiritual nourishment.
This book is suitable for both personal and group study in 10 lessons. The discussion questions and participant handouts make it ideal for small groups and adult classes.
"Suits busy pastors as it gives a comprehensive and in-depth study of the Lord's Supper. Valuable for preaching material or serious bible study. Well recommended." Rev. Gordon C., South Australia "Goes far beyond what other teachers do in getting to the heart of each idea, concept, truth, and word. Nothing is left unexplained." -- Gerald M., United Methodist "Even after many years of serving communion as a pastor, the study helped me gain a deeper love and appreciation for the meaning of this element." -- Elwood O., Church of the Nazarene "Solid, well thought out, and presented." -- Dr. Richard C., Southern Baptist "Very easy reading and applicable for the new believer and the seasoned Christian." -- Cathy R., Baptist "Remarkable for its careful research, scholarship, vision, ability to bring the Scripture texts alive for now, rather than peering into something of past ages only. Challenged me in my personal, ongoing relationship with the Lord." -- Bruce McG., Roman Catholic |
